Stolen Diamond Locket

New Zealand police have recovered a valuable Fabergé diamond locket that a thief allegedly swallowed after stealing it from a jewelry store last week. The egg-shaped pendant is worth USD 19,300, equivalent to nearly 5.4 million Pakistani rupees.

According to police, the suspect’s digestive movement was monitored for six consecutive days to track when the locket would pass naturally. Officials confirmed that the expensive pendant was eventually expelled without any medical intervention.

A photograph released by police shows a gloved officer holding the recovered locket, which still had its long gold chain and price tag attached, confirming its authenticity.

The 32-year-old suspect, whose name has not been disclosed, is accused of stealing the octopus-themed Fabergé egg from Bartridges Jewellers in Auckland on November 28 and swallowing it in an attempt to hide the evidence. He was arrested inside the store just minutes later.

Police said the locket was retrieved Thursday evening as soon as it exited the suspect’s body. Both the suspect and the locket remain in police custody.

The accused was first presented in court on November 29 and is scheduled to reappear on December 8 at the Auckland District Court. Officers continued round-the-clock monitoring to secure the stolen item as evidence.

According to the jeweller’s website, the stolen Fabergé egg contains 60 white diamonds and 15 blue sapphires, with a miniature 18-karat gold octopus hidden inside. Named the “Octopussy Egg,” the design was inspired by the 1983 James Bond film centered on the theft of an elaborate Fabergé egg.
